Making it Work - new publication

A practical guide to effective delivery of Skills for Life in workplace learning

The Making It Work guide is the outcome of Effective Practice Projects undertaken by 38 providers on the Skills for Life Support for World Class Skills Programme in 2009. It is a practical guide for managers, trainers, teachers and teacher educators available on-line in PDF format with links to sample forms, exemplars, good practice case studies, as well as hints and tips and further information.

The guide is organised in five sections, which reflect the processes a training organisation has to work through to deliver Skills for Life learning in the workplace:

1. Employer engagement
2. Developing and implementing effective assessment and ILP processes for workplace learning
3. Flexible ways of delivering learning
4. Developing teaching and learning approaches and resources to reflect the employer context
5. Professional development for workplace learning.

New Workbased-Learning Podcasts

WBL-Shots is an online radio show, blog and Work Based Learning (WBL) community discussion space tackling burning issues from the WBL sector in the UK.  The presenters will deal with a wide range of WBL-related topics, but there is likely to be a particular emphasis on the use of e-learning for WBL delivery.

Hosted by Derrin and Meg of TDM, each "WBL-Shot" is about 10 minutes long, and they will be released bimonthly. There will also be occasional "Ricochets"…. opportunities to hear extracts from live interviews held with key figures in the WBL and wider educational sector.

Shot number 2 was recently released and posed the question: has WBL become too assessor led?  In this episode, Derrin talks to two anonymous assessors, based somewhere in the UK’s West Midlands. The assessors have interesting comments to make about how and why the assessor-led dominance may have come about…

If this seems useful or relevant to you, you can join the discussion at:  http://www.wbl-shots.org.uk/

New Practice Tests from Move On

Move On has developed some new practice tests to help you prepare your learners for the National Tests.
