... to the Skills for Life Development Centre  We work in partnership with organisations, training providers and employers involved in Skills for Life, the national strategy for improving adult literacy and numeracy skills. Our aim is to assist the implementation of the Skills for Life Strategy at a local and regional level. We fulfil this aim by supporting a pan-Sussex and regional approach to Skills for Life development and delivery and helping to improve the quality of Skills for Life provision and to build capacity in meeting the needs of learners across all settings.

The Centre's main areas of activity are as follows:

• Facilitating local Skills for Life management forums
• Working with Professional Development Centres in the South East region to professionalise the Skills for Life workforce
• Providing advice and guidance on the continuing professional development for all those involved in Skills for Life delivery
• Undertaking research to develop Skills for Life curricula and identify continuing professional development needs
• Keeping the Skills for Life community informed of local and regional developments
• Building effective sustainable partnerships and networks

The Centre is supported by the Learning and Skills Council and by the European Social Fund.
