The guiding principles
These are the guiding principles for embedding that have emerged from the research programme.
Principles
- All embedded programme planning begins with the progression needs of the learner.
- All embedded programme planning assumes that the functional skills of the learner underpin all vocational and academic achievement.
- All embedded programme planning is the responsibility of a team who work together to integrate vocational and functional skills.
- All parts of an embedded programme aim to develop the learner’s functional skills to the level required by the vocational curriculum and the Skills for Life or key skills qualifications.
- All parts of an embedded programme are quality assured by both a vocational and a functional skills specialist.
