About embedding
Our research has focused on a range of good practice models across the sector from which we have established that, although there is no one perfect model for embedding, all embedded models share certain key features that are essential to the embedding process.
All successfully embedded programmes are owned by the vocational department and jointly planned by vocational and functional skills staff. Additionally, all parts of the programme are quality assured and observed by both vocational and functional skills specialists.
What is embedding and Why embed?
Five guiding principles have emerged from the embedded models observed. These principles can be used to underpin the planning of an embedded programme and to inform an action plan and quality monitoring schedule. They are also effective in promoting a team approach to embedding and in providing essential criteria for determining whether a programme is genuinely embedded or not.
